There are two types of memories.

The first type is what we’re all familiar with. They’re direct memories, memories of which we remember clearly based on what we saw, heard and felt.

The second type of memories is recreated memories. They’re memories which are either not ours or memories that we have forgotten. The human memory is not perfect; things which are forgotten can be recreated by the prompting of others, and not necessarily accurate.

These are dangerous.

It allows the person to modify the truth simply by recreating memories which are different to what actually happened. As the possibility of time travel has been deemed as impossible (at least, for now), the way of confirming said truths is not possible. These people can then go to influence others, recreating different, various and yet still inaccurate truths.

At this point, what is “true” about the past now becomes what the majority believes it to be. A simple, yet powerful tool to influence, change lives of, and mislead others.

What’s worse is that any modified truths then integrates into the person’s personal reality, discretely editing the personality and experiences of the individual. It’s a subtle form of brainwashing which can be done by anyone.

The very foundations of truth are built on something so vulnerable and so flawed that blurs the image of truth.

In that case, what are “true” about memories, if they can be so easily modified by any individual?

It’s not important whether memories are true. The boundary between reality and actuality has been so distorted that there are so many distinct divisions in society.

What’s important about memories is the effect it has on you. If something false allows you to become a better person, so be it. If it’s beneficial to both you and your personal reality, so be it. If it improves the personal reality of those around you, so be it.

Until universal truths can be confirmed on such a scale, all memories and truths have no real foundations in this world.

Introduction

So during AP2011 I managed to get a hold of a Winning Bird by C3 yoyo design. Its shape instantly caught my attention and I did not hesitate to buy it. The designs on the yoyo are top notch, one of the best designs I've seen in terms of detail, beauty and sharpness.

The only minor complaint I have is the name of it. When I told my friend the name of this yoyo, he instantly replied me with "Sounds like some literal translation from Chinese of a cheap china product". While it did make me laugh, it also made me think that maybe there could have been a better name for this yoyo.

Bearing/Response

The Winning Bird comes stock with a size C Center Trac bearing as well as C3 silicone pads.

From the past, I never really liked Center Trac bearings. I always felt that they were loud, low quality bearings that didn't really work well in play. This is one of the few occasions where I felt the Center Trac was designed for the yoyo.

The Silicone pads are quite grippy compared to other pads when binding but the Center Trac gives a good balance without any snag.

Playability

I don't dislike this yoyo. To be more honest, I've gone through periods of loving this yoyo, and hating it. When I first got the yoyo, it was awesome.

Was.

The worst thing to do with this yoyo is to unscrew it and screw it back together again.

The bearing seat feels like it's slightly too large for the Center Trac size C bearing and horrible screeching sounds can be heard when you screw it back together again.

That's not the worst part.

Upon screwing it back together, it loses all sense of smoothness and gains a slight heartbeat vibe. It was something unexpected from a high end yoyo. Not unplayable, but quite distracting really.

I'm not sure if the quality of manufacturing was low so it affected all yoyos, or whether the anodizing caused problems just for the AP edition yoyos, but I know that there's at least one other person with an AP Winning Bird that has the exact same issue I have.

Apart from that issue, the Winning Bird is pretty awesome in play. It handles horizontals well but has a shape which still allows you to perform string rejections. It's fast on the string and handles direction changes with ease despite its weight and spins for a heck long time.

Conclusion

For around USD$95, the looks and play are both awesome, but the quality of how its made could be improved. In my experience, I find the Dark Star by C3 yoyo design to be of higher build quality, it's a shame that the quality was compromised in what would've been one of my more epic yoyos.

Aoda Follow Wind

Woohoo, after two months of waiting, I finally received my Aoda Follow Wind!

Here's my blue collection (forgot about my popstars when I took this picture, AHH)

So, I shall have a mini review on the Aoda follow wind, since I literally could not put it down for the last two days, this thing is simply awesome. As I found no other helpful reviews online, I hope this may help you.

Introduction

At this point in time, Aoda seems to be moving away from copying designs and have quite a few original designs under their belt (Take the Miracle [even YYF acknowledged its uniqueness and licensed its design] or the Eternal Star as an example).

I do not shun Aoda yoyos because they have copied designs before or acknowledge them as a "bootleg company"; rather, I acknowledge them as a company out to make high quality budget throws that perform as well (or even outperform) most of the yoyos on the $50+ market

Bearing/Response

The Follow wind came in a rather environmentally unfriendly package (not that it bothers me as much as it should) along with some rubbish short string and a pair of extra silicone pads.

Aoda silicone pads have bewildered me, they last a good few weeks and yet are easy to remove and they don't contain annoying adhesive stickers. They're press fit (imagine YYJ O-rings) and stay on without falling out. Because they're press fitted, when one side wears out, you can flip them over to the other side and use the same pad twice. The silicone pads provide me with tight, snappy binds with no snag while playing.

They do have some bits which stick out of the pad which resulted from being cut roughly, but the extra bits can be plucked off with fingers or worn off during a short amount of play.

The stock bearing is an Aoda concave bearing size C. Mine came deshielded, making the first cleaning of the bearing simple and easy, a very considerate thing I'd say. Unlike other Aoda yoyos I had, the bearing did not come caked with lube. It had a feel of a slightly broken in KK bearing, but not as long spinning as a KK.

My experience with Aoda bearings is that they will slightly tarnish over time; however, they retain the same playability and remain quiet

Playability

Honestly, when I first ordered this yoyo, I wasn't expecting much. US$19 for a metal yoyo with free shipping sounds like a deal too good to be true.

I was wrong.

At 65.5g, this thing is fast. Even while playing through my fastest combos, it didn't seem willing to tilt or slow down. The design of the yoyo allows a relatively large catch area, making it more forgiving during sloppy play.

Looking at the width of this yoyo, it's possibly one of my narrowest yoyos. Combined with its stability and playability, I believe that it'll be just as awesome for 3A as 1A.

Its shape allows you to move play through horizontals with ease (I finally managed to pull off horizontal revolutions with this yoyo) and its stability adds extra pwnage to horizontals.

On the down side, forget about grinds on this thing. The surface is grippy and the yoyo will slow down at a high rate if you choose not to wear gloves. Thumb grinds are possible but more difficult as there is no IGR.

Conclusion

For US$19 with shipping, this is absolutely worth every single cent I paid for it. The yoyo came with no ano flaws and the laser engraving was clean, clear and flawless.

The construction of the yoyo seems to be of high quality and is definitely one of my favourite throws now. It gives other yoyo companies a good run for their money as this budget yoyo outperforms all of my bimetals and some of my metals worth over US$70.

Honestly, I haven't been saying grief until a few weeks ago where I found a particular physics homework deadly. Since then, I have a habit of saying "Oh the grief" for the littlest of things.

Wooo I yoyo-ed at the mall (yes I insist that adding -ed to anything makes it a past tense verb) for about 15 minutes. And now I'm tired. Like very tired. Too tired to learn new tricks. Rawr.

Identification

Two years ago, I recognised people based on their most distinct characteristic. It was a way of quickly learning how to identify people, since I began to meet people in such a short span of time.

Two years after that time, I'm staring at my phone contacts list with no idea who the people are. Any ideas on "Girl who is too curious"? The guys tend to more identifiable, for example, the "Guy who likes ballet" is clearly still in my memory.

There's also "Girl who's too kiddy". I am bewildered. I have a feeling I'm meant to know who they are, but I'm having doubts on whether I'm correct or not.

It really seemed like a good idea during that time, it would help me identify people based on links with memories (which is the best way of remembering things, our mind works well with links). But now... No, not really.

So now I have a load of contacts on my phone of which I can identify about half of them. Hurray.

By the way, after watching some yoyo vids, I lost confidence on being able to record to the standard of which I watched... So there won't be a vid, not for a while anyway

Just in case you might not remember me, I was the guy in the blue shirt helping out and (when free) yoyo-ed. And, if you were one of the people with the camera/phone recording me, please do share links with me, I'm quite curious as to how I look like while yoyo-ing in public.

On a side note, my first reaction to people who say they read my blog is to call them a stalker.

I'm sorry about that and I apologise, I've picked up bad habits as I don't expect anyone to ever find this blog (it's a place where I mainly vent and think about stuff. There's little to no consistency in my blog posts, but it's meant to be like that. My thoughts have little consistency). But truthfully speaking, if you are reading this right now, I'm quite happy and pleased :)

Just to comment, helping out with SEAMC on Saturday involved the largest amount of manual labour I have done in a LONG time. Setting up tables/chairs, bringing up (and down) balloons, mugs, activities stuff (lots of heavy bottles I might add), etc. etc.

But overall, I enjoyed myself, I don't go out much (everywhere outside my room is generally dirty, full of germs and has a lot of people [not that I don't like people, I just feel claustrophobic when there's too many people])

I'm trying to prevent this from looking like a block of text, I really am... But I lacked a camera at SEAMC (sadly) and thus I have no pictures to make this less scary.

If it helps (which I'm pretty sure it doesn't), you can have a drawing I did a few weeks ago. Drawing eyes is hard.

Did it help? Well I guess not.

Better? Decided to stick with one with a Rubik's cube in it due to a SEAMC related incident in 2008.

-flashback begins-

Two years ago I was young and innocent, I decided to buy a Rubik's cube. So I did. Going back to the hall full of other people from SEAMC, I began messing around with it, trying to solve it.

Twenty seconds later, three people from Hong Kong rushed and sat next to me and said "How fast can you solve it?" and continued to solve it while looking at me.

My hopes were shattered. I stared at them and said honestly (and sadly), "I just got this about thirty minutes ago" and looked down in shame.

Okay maybe it wasn't a very funny story, or a very meaningful story. Therefore to make up for it, I'll post something that would really annoy the person involved (Oh well, what to do)

SEAMC 2011

Tonight I helped out at SEAMC.

It was fun!

The people there, were absolutely and utterly... normal. I expected a group of people who knew mathematical functions that I never heard before in my life, but instead I was greeted by warm people from aged 11 to 15 who actually talked to me (surprising as that may be)

What surprised me more is that they didn't find me intimidating. Usually when people see a hyperactive 17 year old boy walk up to them and stare at them, they'd feel weirded out. But, these people actually smiled and replied me (okay, some of them ignored me. -hurt- But I kinda expected that)

There were people from Hong Kong, Jakarta, KK, Singapore (woohoo!) and Korea of which I talked to. Oh! And this year, there were a lot more Caucasian people than I expected, which was a surprise.

One of the most unnerving things which happened was when I started yoyo-ing, about 15 people surrounded me (in a circle of a diameter about 1 1/2 meters) watching and some of them had their camera/phones out and were recording me.

THAT. was very unnerving.

Screwed up pretty much every eli hop, got the string tangled on my positron, and ended up repeating tricks a lot. But it turned out quite well, they were interested for the most part, I found that really nice because some of them came up to me and asked me about my hobby (great way to start a conversation with random people).

And finally, she talked to me. At first, I didn't have high hopes for a reply when I asked "How are you?", but when she replied, I was in an utter state of shock. It was something I never expected from someone I never looked at in the eye for three whole years. It was good though. It sorta brought the happiness I felt at SEAMC to a whole new level.

Regardless of how sleepy I am now (had a total of 8 1/2 hours of sleep in the last two nights), I enjoyed helping out at SEAMC and even stayed back later than everyone else till 9:45.

Definitely something I won't forget.

Do I believe people are born with different skills/abilities?

I believe people are born with similar capabilities and the skills/abilities they pick up are based on every part of their nurturing.

One of the most well known phrases (to me, because this is what people say to me) is "born-smart". I'm very skeptical on the fact people claim that others are born smarter than them. Everyone is human.

To me, learning some of the skills I've picked up over the past years (yoyo-ing and pen spinning are the most prominent) has been an enjoyable time. I found that learning a new skill is exponential in terms of skill level.

Everything starts off slowly, and that's the concept which turns away many people in learning new skills.

Back to education. I believe that learning things is exponential as well. It takes a long time to understand the basis of a topic in a subject, but after that, delving deeper into the topic becomes easier.

As it's 11pm and there's school tomorrow (which explains my HORRIBLE way of explaining things、wait... does that even make sense?), I'll keep this short. :)

A short thing I'd like to mention, one of the main reasons why I can pull off good grades without studying much is because I'm studying ALL the time (what?!). I don't confine my studying to pen or paper (or, in the modern world, computers). What do I mean?

One early morning I was climbing up the staircase in school lugging my heavy bags. At that point of time, I thought, dang these heavy bags, E=mgh, wasting so much energy just to carry them up.

Weird eh? Well, I guess I'm quite nerdy. But the main point is, I wasn't born smart, nor born a nerd. It took me 10 years to realise that the things we learn in school actually APPLY to stuff which happens around us.

That's the key which is needed to pull off the best grades. Not studying, not note taking, not being "born smart". And yes, I realised that this post was hardly consistent, I'll try harder next time :P

to commemorate the death of my protege

Today, I commemorate the passing away of my protege. It was a good yoyo. The walls were weaker than they should be and it suffered one too many dings (very bad ones, I might add). Alas, the screw threads became weak and it now vibes (still playable, but very distracting)

It is my first full metal yoyo, I remember the first bad ding it suffered. It was when the onedrop 10 ball bearing was slightly not wide enough, causing the string to be cut between the bearing and bearing seat and the yoyo to roll away very fast (on the marble floor of the airport)

As is customary, I decided to give the protege a shiny satin finish, so it can look good in its final moments.

Rest in Peace, Protege.

Oh the cliche-ness.

the joy in public yoyoing

I love to yoyo in public

It's not the attention I enjoy. But specifically, I like to see the reactions of people who notice. The variety of responses is amazing.

Some people give a quick glance and simply walk away. Other people slow down their walking speed while gazing at the nimble movements of the yoyo. Little children tend to stand about a meter away with their mouths open, sometimes clapping, sometimes exclaiming "cool" "wow".

All are perfectly valid responses and I don't mind which response I get, usually most people don't notice; but those who do notice give self gratifying feelings about being able to entertain some people for a short moment of their life.

Sometimes when I see some people sitting around in a queue waiting, I'd just go stand nearby and yoyo for a bit just to see if I can bring a smile upon their faces.

What I enjoy most is the occasional glimpse into the eyes of people who are watching to see if there's a gleam in their eyes.

Note: Many people have the impression I need to watch the yoyo in order to land all the tricks, I don't.

Just a quick blog to let you all know I'm still alive and kicking :)

There are three reasons why I wanted to learn Japanese:

1) How nice it would be to watch anime and know everything they're saying

2) It's a beautiful sounding language

3) I thought it would be easy

Emphasis on the "I thought".

To my dismay, after realising that there are around 10 ways a person can say "I", depending on who they are in comparison to those they're talking to and the situation, I realised that it can get a lot more complicated.

And it did.

X wa = for an entity X there is a situation E in which X occupies a position.

X mo = for an entity X there is a situation E in which X occupies the same position as an entity Y.

X ga = for an entity X there is a predicate P of which X is the subject.

X wo = for an entity X there is a predicate P of which X is the complement.

X na = for an entity X there is an entity Y which carries the features of X directly.

X no = for an entity X there is an entity Y which carries the features of X indirectly

Oh the joy of particles. Reminds me of the days I studied Chinese and using "de" and "ge" all the time regardless of whether it's correct or not. It's no wonder my Chinese is no better than a third grader.

what's up everyone

The sun was shining, the overhead sky was blue. I decided to do what I usually do, mess around with a yoyo, learning various tricks, whips, slacks, and healthy spam; watch anime, play guitar and much less importantly, do homework.

After all the fun, I usually log on to the computer and chat to whoever is on. Once I found someone else with nothing better to do (like me), I always get asked “what’s up”, “how are things going”, or some other stereotypical conversation starter.

At that point I become caught between two possible answers. Firstly, I could run through all the previous activities I just did and include tidbits of what I did on the previous day, troubles in life, interesting websites and talks I have found that are truly inspiring; Or, I could go with the totally redundant, “nothing much”, “it’s fine”, “the sky”.

It wasn’t till recently that I realized how these superfluous answers weaved themselves into my daily vocabulary. What’s worse is that many people ask these questions expecting some sort of half-assed answer.

The other day I happened to cross paths with someone who knew me vaguely and asked me “How are you?” while continuing to walk in the opposite direction past me. In my allocated 0.05 seconds of thinking time, just right before the person walked past the limits of audible hearing, I managed to sputter out “I’m fine”, feeling quite pleased I was able to react fast enough.

I don’t see the purpose of this. It feels as though it’s part of a “3 Easy Steps to Fake Concern for Someone” compilation along with the fake sympathetic look and templates of concerned emails.

My blog's back to where it was initially :) I decided I needed a place to vent my frustration and my blog came into mind

The tag board is gone, as it was spammed by bots. (grrrrrrrrrr...)

OK, this won't be such a long post, neither will it be the best way to get my blog going again, but what the heck.

RAWR. I am frustrated. When I say "I call not it", how is a suitable response, "Who votes him to do it?" People don't understand the fact that I'm busy, I have lots of other stuff to do. I now regret not being pushy/assertive enough.

Oh well, no one being forced to do something will give it their 100%

AND I'M STILL FRUSTRATED. (sorry for the caps) Lots of tests/coursework/homework to do but I'm locked up with lots of other stuff. I can't wait till the december holidays, but then I'll have to revise for exams in January. AHHH

But I do want to study, I enjoy studying, I just don't have time to do much unless I begin to free up some of my activities.

And, I have problems remembering the past, it feels like everything I've done before last year has become a far too distant memory, whereas anything I've learnt still remains with me. It almost feels like my brain's unconsciously deleting all my memories to fit in space for stuff I learn o_O

Freaky eh?

Wish I could just go back to sleep for the next few days, been so tired, but nooooooo, I have lots of stuff to do. Gr. Evilness.

Just finished watching Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu today.

When I bought it from AnimeTech, the guy guaranteed me that I'll laugh throughout it because it's very funny... He was right. I was laughing so much that my grandmother came into the room and asked me why i was laughing so much.

In the wise words of Bonta-kun, "Fuumo, fumo fumo. Fumoffu."

Now I'm watching "Mayoi Neko Overrun!" since it's 13 episodes long. I shall finish my longer anime titles once I reach Brunei when I have more time ^^

So far it's quite alright and has caught my interest. Within the first 4 minutes of the show, Fumino Serizawa has already established herself as a Tsundere in the oh-so typical manner.

Well just to sum up, I do have some high hopes for this anime, I don't mind watching an anime if the art is good. Since this was released just earlier this year, the animation so far is up to my standards.

Can't wait till Wednesday xD

Well, earlier this week, my inner earphones which I bought from Singapore about a year ago died. In short, the left earphone disconnects frequently when the wire is moved. A basic but annoying problem which renders them next to useless. Below is the most unclear picture of the culprit. It's the best I could take, maybe if you squint you can see the exposed wire in between the gaps of the rubber xD

Prior to this, I had a very nice Logitech Premium Laptop headset said to be very portable and easy to carry

In short, it's not very Premium, with the right side unscrewing with minor use within a few months. However, it is very portable, especially the fact that the right side can be turned in any direction now that it's not connected. Of course, not very pleased.

With this great setback, I decided to try some cheaper notebook headsets. Well it was all good until I stumbled upon this ~~crap~~ cheap laptop headset (about $20) by Genius. I don't know what I was thinking when I bought this, but when I finally acquired it and opened up the package, it unfolded into this:

As for portability, it's great. As for comfort, it's about as comfortable as sleeping in Borneo without air-con. The narrow gap between the frame and the ear piece (Not sure what they're called) impose a great threat to those who wear glasses. Upon wearing them, the unfortunate design interferes with the glasses frame, tilting the glasses and causing the user to feel discomfort and disorientated.

Brilliant Design.

After all this dissatisfaction, I have to revert to using my last properly working pair of earphones/headset. The Razer m250.

The sound quality is great. After using inner earphones for an extended period of time, listening to music with these have been refreshing. The sound reproduction on these earphones are great, not to mention the fact that they're really comfortable in terms of design - and not interfering with the glasses of short sighted people like me.

However, nothing's perfect. After a few months from purchasing it, the cushion began to wear off and disintegrate. Nonetheless, they're still usable, although I do miss the feeling of soft cushion on my ears.

Lastly I would like to comment, I do take care of my things well. I have a laptop which has lasted almost 2 years without any hardware issues and a nokia n70 that has survived about 5-6 years with me. I just wish that in these present days, companies would focus on making their products last, instead of designing them to break

After so much time trying to find a decent ipod manager (as my iTunes repeatedly fails to detect my ipod, rawr.), I finally acquired something.

A Virus.

Wow. Yea so now the battle for my computer begins (well, pretty much ended already). Just a safe mode boot, location + deletion of the file as well as its registry entries got my comp back on track :P

WHY DID I UPDATE MY ITUNES. RAWR IT WAS WORKING FINE UNTIL I UPDATED IT. Well, after about an hour plus of downloading, I managed to replace my previous functioning iTunes, with something that won't even open. Go me.

Summer Hols are coming up soon! The dread of exams has left many peoples' expressions, now replaced with a show of relaxation... Sadly the race has only begun ;) Oh how cynical. Muahaha!

Someone keeps entering my blog by typing "sacreation" onto Google. REVEAL THYSELF! Or I shall finally conclude to password my blog ^^

For some reason, I've taken a strange liking for watching anime over the past week

From The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya

-Of which I finished most of the 24 existing episodes, the original 13 episodes were good XD "Season 2" was quite repetitive and lost a bit of my attention; however, Haruhi Suzumiya's character on the whole (partial tsundere :P) always seems to amuse me. I don't know why, but the whole Tsundere personality thing in Anime really seems to... appeal to me? Such a strange thing to say :P Nonetheless it had it's good bits and bad bits :)

To Chobits

-Of which I still need to watch ^^" I like the overall cuteness of the show, definitely entertaining (in my opinion, that is). The only thing that bothers me is how the guy was drawn, somehow I feel that his face is out of proportion? Maybe XD

To Toaru Majutsu No Index (A Certain Magical Index of Prohibited Books)

-Despite the fact that I've read online reviews and many times people said that Toaru Kagaku no Railgun (A Certain Scientific Railgun) was much more interesting, I decided to try watching this anime and I loved it XD Again we have the tsundere character of Mikoto Misaka who is absolutely awesome. Love the whole power over electricity thing she has as well as her personality :P I've finished this anime, and I have to look out for A Certain Scientific Railgun (which focuses on Mikoto's story~ WOO lol)

Dark skies loom overhead. Streaks of lightning trail the outline of clouds. The clock ticked away in silence, only being interrupted by sudden bursts of thunder which shook the walls of his house. Rain fell quietly, making room for the thunderous crackle of electrical bolts to fill the night sky.

Kaileb was looking through the plain windows. He lived by himself in this small hut in the middle of the forest, distrusting the human nature of others. His wooden table occupied the majority of the room, he reasoned that since he spent most of his time writing, there is no reason his bed should occupy more than a third of his room. During the weekdays he loved to retire to his desk after a day of hunting, but over the past fortnight the storm gave him no chance to go out, observe wildlife and breathe fresh air. He sighed. He knew that a place of solitude and escapism is something he sought for, but the storm was pushing his limits. Though unnerving at first, he had grown used to the relentless thunder strikes and now he just dismisses the once-annoying powerful force of nature every time it was sent down from the heavens.

He picked up an old fountain pen and began to write on a small notebook that always occupied a space on the dimly lit table. He looked across the table, only a small lantern lit up his room, but it was enough as the room was not that large. Besides, the endless lightning always seemed to provide extra lighting, he thought grimly. Satisfied at the minor pun he made, he scribbled it down for future reference. Rain continued to pour down his window like never-ending tears. It was going to be a long day. And a lonely one, he mused. Having no mood to write, he closed his notebook. I just finished reading the Age Of Five Trilogy by Trudi Canavan, and I have to say that I forgot how much I love reading fantasy. However, I think I've read too much. After reading I now have a voice in the back of my head which answers back to me. I find it ever so amusing. And no, that was not sarcasm. I guess this extra thought which I have in things helps me to double think about things in general, which can never cause any harm, can it?

Over the past week or so, the numerous English essays which I've forced myself to write has finally compelled me to write with proper grammar. I'm disappointed in myself. To think I've previously dubbed the single full stop to be a symbol of concise and unfriendly sentence endings. So don't blame me if this way of writing is beginning to be annoying, trust me, even I find it annoying.

Exams are coming up soon! Time seems to flutter away, hours seeming like minutes, minutes pretending to be like seconds. It's a conspiracy! After every minute of relaxation there's the daunting of exams, drawing closer faster and faster.

First exam has already been struck down, only 14 more to go. FOURTEEN?! you say? Yeap, fourteen. SEVEN math exams. Sound fun right? Actually to me, it could possibly be.

Just that sentence should have shocked you. "FUN?! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!" No, I'm not. I love study leave.

During study leave, I can relax by sleeping in until the late morning and skipping breakfast in the process or I may go swimming, enjoying the cold and refreshing water surround me while breaking the soft surface of the pool and propelling myself across the aqua blue waters, enjoying the quiet tweeting and singing of the nearby birds while the sun is remaining high in the sky, blocked only slightly by the clouds that floated like sweet cotton candy. It's like a dream, but reality.

Going back to studying, the droning of teachers in my memory reminding me of a unit 2 mock exam tomorrow never ceases to disturb me in moments of my enjoyment.

Haha heya everyone! Howre you and things? =D today for me has been a great day, thanks for all who went out today (you know who you are, though I doubt you'd be reading this) =P

So this is a special bog post.. Its the first blog post which will be fully typed out on micrsoft word, on my phone.. As im still new to technology (haha.) it fascinates me greatly and dearly =P

Today was a fun day in school... Having no substitute teacher for the first lesson actually felt more beneficial (in some twisted way)... In my opinion, the freedom to discuss and talk helps retain attention (or possibly distract it) but overall it did indeed help me work XD

Enough of the boring stuff... And onto MORE boring stuff! Wooot wooot!

I had a blackout yesterday for 1 hour.

I did my homework with a torch. Somehow it made me feel sad and yet strangely satisfied.. I guess the greatest things in life are intensified with contrast.. We cannot truly be grateful for something (in this case, electricity) unless we don't have it..

And yes.. It was really dark and scary.

I wanna go to singapore! I have unfinished business there =P

I wanna freeze time! Exams are coming soon, real soon.. But as a wise man once said, the only thing we have to fear is fear itself =)

Ooo and here's a great advice for everyone out there... When there's a problem with technology, trial and error does not work.. but it has a chance to turn your piece of technology into a great paperweight, or even a brick! OR OR, a rubbish dump filler

Well today has been an awesome day I must admit :) I woke up a lil late today tho (I blame my alarm clock... it rang at 6am T_T I turned it off then slept...) and spent time with my girlfriend.. I enjoyed it greatly :)

Had a chinese new year eve dinner today ^^ It was quite fun :P I emphasize the quite. Lol kidding... It was a HUGE reunion, my mum, dad, sis... and I... Huge reunion, only happens about 300 days a year.. XD

Lol I need to blog more :P My blog visits has been on a downhill slope since the start of this year XD

So I guess it's time to finally start blogging frequently about the odds and ends of my life in an attempt to attain and possible allure you into bookmarking this blog and visiting it frequently in order to make me satisfied and happy about myself. Lol long sentence XD

Anyway, I just watched the Dark Knight day before yesterday (yes I do know it came out many years ago XD)... It was an awesome movie... Except it was quite twisted in the way the joker talks... Great actor but I kinda feel sorry for the character, being emotionally distraught until it reduced him to the joker :(

I also watched the pink panther 1+2 again XD Those are some funny movies :P I love how (forgot main actor's name) can act so arrogant in the movie, and I find the thick french accent so amusing XD

Actually I find all accents amusing... It sounds so different to what I'm used to normally :P (the singlish accent XD)

Modding Modding Modding!

Well, this is a M&M KT that I made in singapore because I couldn't resist. Just to make things clear, M&M just stands for miffy and melanie and KT stands for KeitYo... Actually, a Keityo is a sign pen which is another possible body for this mod, the reason why "KT" is used is because the mod has become so famous that spinners know what KT refers to as a mod...

But anyway... Bonkura KT! XD Bonkura is a famous pen spinner who passed away :( a few years ago... He used the pink/skyblue theme so much that the pink/skyblue colour scheme is referred to as "Bonkura Colours"

A kUzu mod :P I always said to myself that I won't make a kUzu mod until I had the right materials to make one in its original colours... Well, thanks to Joshua, I could :P

An Ahoy mod... Made this because the tutorial came out a few days on UPSB and i had spare pirats, so I thought, what the heck :P So yea... An Ahoy mod XD

Today I spent my day with my one and only girlfriend (awww...) and later on we went to euroclassics and i bought the doggie on the left and the ball (double aww...) Now it shall be the kid of the other two doggies, so I have a family now =D LOL (triple awww? XD)

Ignore the purple bedspread with pink flowers on it, that's obviously my sisters and mine is in the wash... obviously :P LOL Somehow, I just liked stuffed toys which are dogs, especially furry ones O_O I have no idea why, I just do... haha!

4 Months and a day! ^^

And wow, time does pass fast :P But as I've stated before, many many more months to come :P

Uniforms!

Schools should not have one.

Creativity

So far in life, I always thought that schools were meant to encourage their pupil's creativity. It's one thing to learn everything like sets of rules from a textbook, but it's another thing to be creative. In fact, developing creativity is much harder than learning from a textbook. Whilst learning can be achieved through hard work, creativity is based on a free way of thought, which is why pupils, especially children, should learn to express their creativity in many ways.

Uniforms heavily limits this. Clothing is one of the main ways people can express their inner creativity. Everyone does this as it is not bound to paper, but rather done to provide an insight to themselves, for example, they dress to show what type of person they are through colours and designs. The purpose of uniforms is to provide a smart-look cover on the school, but to do this at the limitation for the students is purely irrational. Another commonly said purpose is to prevent students from dressing indecently, however, this has not been successful even in the current solution.

Many students are able to find a multitude of ways to alter their uniform to get around this. The uniform code is in shambles, and many loopholes have been abused, such as wearing pants/skirts lower, unbuttoning top buttons and so on. Instead, a set of enforced dress rules (such as covering shoulders) would largely be beneficial as it does not restrict creativity for the students and provides modest dressing for the school.

Social

As introduced earlier, no uniforms allow pupils to dress in accordance to their own style and personality. This develops key social skills, such as the way they present themselves and their to society, which is vital for future stages of life. There is a severe lack of ability to understand how people express themselves by their clothing especially where schools force children to use uniforms while their minds develop during the early stages of life. This issue can only be addressed by abolishing the current system of uniforms.

Many people, including myself, feel restrained because of the uncomfortable uniform system (in a recent poll, 64% of students voted that uniforms are uncomfortable). As a result of this, many tend to be introvert and keep to themselves, which is detrimental to a child's psychology while growing up. This leads to poor social skills and unhealthy emotions, both very limiting to society.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the uniform system should be abolished and replaced with a new system of free dressing enforced by some rules. This is the best solution which will benefit both students and society and should highly be considered to replace the current obsolete system, which has many flaws.

Well, some practice for English, based on a very simple, commonly used and accessible question "Should uniforms be banned in school"... Lol... Yea I know it's boring, but I need to practice :P Too bad XD Hahaha kidding..

I have no idea anymore.

I always thought dentistry would be a good choice for me to take due to my father being a dentist. But not anymore. It seems to me that it can possibly cause unnecessary stress, but then again, any job which earns higher amounts of money do that.

Am I willing to give up my happiness for a better-than-good living? Then again, I'd also be affecting those around me, how do I know? Experience. Nothing can be more distracting in your real exam (i believe it was geography for me, or math? or ICT? I can't remember well) than your parents arguing right before the exam. It's not only disruptive, but it took me a lot longer to concentrate on the actual exam. Not helpful.

There are lots of more things I'd like to say, but isn't a blog too public? Not at all, especially with a few tricks which I picked up with my excessively free time.

I need a webcam! But in order to get a nice angle for pen spinning, I would need to locate my webcam on the high left of me, the closest thing is a wall about 3m away on the right. Not going to work. :P The closest shelf I have is diagonally front right to me... and if I try to record from that angle, the recording will show my body in it T_T Who would want to see my fat stomach anyway? The Tranfiguration between the Blue ties and the Red ties.

Well, all in all... nothing much has changed... the one of the main changes is the subjects I have. For example, let's look at friday. In total, there are 7 periods on friday, each period is roughly about 45 minutes. Anyway, on friday I have, Triple Bio, Triple Physics and Single Chemistry. Do you knowww how much bio/physics that is?! XDDD

Hmm, being so far away in the Sixth form block pretty much feels isolated, since all the other people are over halfway across the school... HALFWAY ACROSS THE SCHOOL. RAWR. At R block the only thing I have is tutor group, and my locker. WHYYY must they torment me and make me walk halfway across the school just to get my school folders for me lesson that's somewhat about 10m away T.T

AND AND, the new locker I took is full of random sheets of work / paper from its previous owner... But I can't be bothered to clean it up... So yea XD I shall continue to keep my stuff on top of the unfortunate mess and rather wait for the paper to decompose by natural means. HAHA

D: None of my usual friends before in year 11 are in my tutor group now. SO SAD ;_;... oh well XD

At the mall, nice change in scenery... instead of the usual enclosed space, it's like vast open areas of breathing space... So much air... oxygen... yay oxygen!!!

Lol anyway, -back on subject- my group consisted of Jia Wan, Weng Ee, Zyrha, Manuel, and yours truly... was very fun XD walking around blindly in the mall, it was a chance to live like how the other mall people do, walk around aimlessly to kill time... I don't know why... but somehow I strangely find myself really really liking that blade... I guess I always liked slightly curved back blades since I played Runescape.. At that time I was bizzarred (did i make that word up?) by the Scimitars, which looked really cool in comparison to straight blades XD (they're too common! Swords, Daggers, Knives, pfft XD)

But anyway.. they're illegal! How sad is that? I mean, okay, they're knives... but honestly?

So they count as weapons, well, I'll go to Sim Kim Huat and go buy a parang, a hunting knife, or another type of knife along those lines... They're more efficient IF my purpose was killing, but it's not...

There is so much potential for a knife like this that's made of 3 parts... if noone believes me then watch this:

Well back to my point... It's dangerous because it's a concealed weapon?

I mean seriously, I put a steak knife into my pocket, OH NO, IT'S CONCEALED! I put my dagger into its sheath, OH NO, IT'S CONCEALED! I mean, a balisong has no more potential than an ordinary kitchen knife... maybe it has even less potential

Scenario 1: Someone sneaks up to attack me violently

1) I have a knife attatched to my neck which I quickly grab and stab my attacker (in the leg or arm of course, non-lethal) which makes him let go of his weapon and I can run away

2) I have a butterfly knife in my pocket, which I quickly reach for with my burst of adrenaline. After miraculously pulling it out just as the attacker is close to me, I proceed to flip it open, in the meantime, I get stabbed millions of times by the attacker who may be holding a steak knife. GG

Scenario 2: I try to attack someone (won't happen but people somehow think owning a knife makes you a killer)

1) I have an ordinary kitchen knife which I can stab someone with quick, then hide/throw it away (seriously, how would they trace a kitchen knife if you're wearing gloves?)

2) I have a butterfly knife which I have to flip open (they're quite noisy and therefore I reveal my position), besides giving off my position, trying to open the blade too close to the person will make it obvious i'm there, opening it too far will mean I'll be too far away. Even if finally get the chance to do whatever I have to do, I conceal the knife later by closing it... Which makes it no less effective than any other knife.

The fact is, it still is a knife, which means people with blowpipes, bow and arrow, anything they can throw, etc. still have an advantage over me. I have no idea why they would ban such a weapon... If they are to ban weapons as effective or even more efficient than a butterfly knife, we'd have to eat steak with butter knives and only eat vegetables in the form of uncut salad..

Honestly, even if I am to get a butterfly knife, I'd get a trainer, where the edges are blunt and cannot be sharpened (disassembled)

I mean sure, it looks like a weapon, but so do those butcher knives. In my opinion, if they are THAT paranoid about it, they shouldn't ban trainers with unsharpened blades, cannot be sharpened and confiscate them, but rather, they should make people licence them and allow them to be imported...

I was just chatting to my friend in Switzerland, he said if you go to any knife store there, you can buy these types of knives... Sure, maybe that should be allowed if everything else can be sold too, but if anyone is to ban them, they should at LEAST allow the trainers... I mean, you can't use a trainer for killing and it shows that 100% that the person is just using that as a hobby item..

Oh well... It can be so ridiculous about custom laws sometimes, but who am I to complain? I'm just one of the other hundreds of thousands of people, just a mist that appears suddenly and disappears soon after...

I'm serious XD Maybe I got it all wrong. Aside from the fact they mispelt the Title while posting it without telling me, it's actually one of the most funniest things ever. I'm actually thankful for what they did.

Right now there's a mini-war between those who speak from experience (truth) verses those who use radical numbers and anything in a desperate attempt to justify why foreign workers in a bad thing.

HAHAHA but the funniest thing is how deceiving it is... If you were local and didn't realise this, 3,000 a month! Like WOW seriously XDDD but unless you're superman or any equivalent, I doubt you can work the same amount as 7-8 foreigners.

HAHAHAHA let's see what else this guy has to say....

Someone from www.bruneiclassified.com decided to be idiotic and set my comment as a separate post on a separate part of the website. The post was titled "Foreingers can work harder"

So no longer is my comment a comment, but a misinterpretted, "racist", post.

"Foreigner can work hard" that's true. Definitely true and is the reason why people employ foreigners... If non-foreigners could work harder, then wouldn't people prefer to hire non-foreigners?

Would you hire people eager to get the job? Or will you just ban them from entering the country just because they work harder and make an effort to be there early?

Personally, I would hire someone who's there early and really would perform. Why? Because it'll mean that I'll have some competent workers who can actually GET THE JOB DONE.

It's not whether the person is foreign or not, it's whether they're determined to get the job. Foreigners are not "depriving locals of jobs" on purpose, but you see them in those jobs in these situations because they have WORKED HARD and made an effort to BE THERE EARLY.

In this case, if locals did the same thing, they would get the jobs too... It's all about the amount of effort they're willing to put in.

Now let's pull this case which I said apart.

Some guy loaded my blog 39 times in a span of 10 minutes in a desperate attempt to view the "enot's RSVP" which I made before. HAHA XD the link should work fine though :/ not sure what's wrong...

Hmm, after noticing that my number of actual visitors to my blog who actually read my contect (rather than just coming across while looking for mod pictures) are still low... I decided I have 3 options:

1) Dedicate this blog entirely to one subject to attract visitors for that aspect (i.e. convert this to a pen spinning blog to attract pen spinners)

2) Advertise my blog by doing things such as telling people on msn to visit or putting my link on my facebook status

3) Simply not care.

I guess you know which one I picked, whoever reads my blog anyway or those who matter, I don't need random pen spinners because I simply don't know them. XD

Well, modder actually... but yea...

My first MP MX (dori style) yea... it's a beautiful mech and surprisingly easy to adapt into a mod XD (i know he won't read this) but thanks dori for discovering this mech ^^

Yea I know m mods don't look as nice as the other ones found online, sheerly because I'm an idiot in photoshop and because I don't like flash. I know photoshopping it onto a nice background, having pop up box things which display the front and back of the mod, and using flash on the camera would make the mod seem better...

But it doesn't mean they're better in any way :P

The Rant

Look at this and tell me what's wrong:

Not only are we paying $88 a month on a crappy internet speed, we're paying $88 on a unreliable crappy internet speed. Here you can see that the internet speed cuts to ~33% of it's promised speed. Sure, we pay $88 a month on an internet speed of 512kb/s... but at least make it reliable.

Recently I've been looking through the Brunei Classifieds, and I found an article which frustrates me

On one morning the LeGalleria Hotel had vacancies and interviews. By 7am there was a long line of people queing to take the application forms and wait for interviews. All were Filipinos. There was not a local applicant in sight.

Don’t be so selfish just because these people are foreigners, though they’re not local, they’re still people who need jobs for food to EAT.

Let me tell you, people are so desperate for jobs to come by plane, take a cheap ferry service in which the travel time totals to days, in search for a simple job where they can earn a somewhat decent salary.

Now stop being racist, just because they are not local do not make them any less human. If someone’s that desperate for a job and comes to your country, will you have a heart to offer them a job? Or will you tell them to go away just because they’re “depriving the locals of jobs”?"

It disappoints me how people can lose their sense of heart to matters such as this. What worries me more is if government officials actually read that and adapted this post. Come on, if locals aren't there to apply for jobs, then of course they're not that interested in it?

The government already heavily restricts employment into the government sector, where school fees are subsidised, housing is provided, etc. etc... So how is this "depriving the locals of jobs"?

Sure, Singapore may not have the $1 nasi lemak which is one of the reasons why Brunei has a very high percentage of overweight/obese people, sure, Singapore may have 7% GST charges on things, sure, Brunei things may be cheaper... but I hate how people can omit things just to suit themself.

This is ONE side of the argument, here I am to present the other

I pay $88 a month on a crappy internet speed, where it's essentially *free* in singapore. The free island-wide internet is far more reliable than the e-speed 2 connection I get here. Maybe Brunei just needs the technologically superior foreigners to take over the internet service providers here, but why would these sort of people come here?

Brunei is such a boring place. I mean comon, look at our one theme park (I'm happy that some travel agencies have corrected the misleading image of the "state of the art theme park"), it's more than half broken down. My friends and I have long stopped going there and instead, we just play a nice game of "Guess which ride will close down next"

Look at the transport systems, Singapore has a nice, reliable system where I can basically get anywhere without relying on car and a driver to send me around. And what a pity that so many people only look at one side of this, and want to restrict potential drivers from entering the country. At this rate, I'm doomed to be under house-arrest.

And then you look at Brunei's dependence on oil... "Crude oil and natural gas production account for just over half of GDP and more than 90% of exports." (source: CIA world factbook)

Now what will happen when the oil will run out? Who knows? Who would want to find out? We can just play the waiting game or how about, let's just hope to find more oil!

What frustrates me most is the reply to this post: "and for your info as a matter of fact..Brunei is richer than pathetic singaporeans.."

Not only is this horribly (not mildly) racist, it's stupidly based off the GDP per capita."“Brunei was the richest economy with a per capita GDP of HK$269,971 or BND$49,866.92". Now, Geographers out there or people with at least half a brain, why do we not base wealth of a country off GDP per capita? For the benefit of those people, I'll explain why... imagine there are 3 people, one of them earns $100000 a year, and the other two earn $100 a year. The GDP per capita in this case is $33400.

And people who are not intellectually taught (politically correct term for "idiots") will look at these 3 people and say, "Oh, these 3 people are richer than those 3 pathetic people who each earn $20,000 a year." But what if the other two people are starving? This generally happens in places where one or a few people in the country make most of the GDP **cough cough** you probably know what I'm talking about.

Oh well... hmm... kinda frustrated now because brunei internet SUCKS!!!! T.T every single time after it rains internet speed cuts by about 50%... like my ping to singapore is now 600+ms and 300kb/s data download and 100kb/s upload speed. RAWR...

People in Singapore pay around about $20-$30 a month on their internet to get a speed of around 3000kb/s... whereas people here pay $88 a month for such unreliable and instable internet. How unreasonable T.T....

And I need a new wireless card with an antenna (i know i can just homemake a new antenna out of a pringles can or stuff like that but face it... it's too troublesome to bring around XD)... In singapore starbucks the only connection I could get was if I sat outside... in the smoking section. As much as I'd like internet in singapore, I value my health more. XD which is why I wasn't online much in singapore :P

Hmm, should I take advice from my parents?

Up till this point, I've believed advice from my parents has been great (except for the, don't eat glucose, it feeds cancer cells, from my mum... likewut doesn't have glucose.) That's a simple statement, now comes the reason.

They believe that:

1) I should meet more girls and then from there, pick the one that suits me best.

2) I'm too young now (that's perfectly logical though)

3) I should find someone younger than me (if you look at my mum's parents, her mum is older than her dad. Yet apparently that's wrong)

Now my opinions:

1) Though I do not want to go into detail about THEIR relationship lives, I would like to state that building up a relationship from young would let you know the person well. Building relationships are better since it results in less failed ones.

2) Maybe I am too young. Although if everything works out as well as for the future, then it'll be a good story for kids.

3) Age has not much factor in relationships ('cept for the extreme relationships out there, i.e. teacher and student, but yea). 9 months makes a big difference? Well. -logical side- Women live longer. If the woman were younger, than on average, she would have to live longer without a spouse in old age.

For those who don't care, then it's fine XD this post is not for you. Not many people read my blog anymore, so only those who are new/who count are still reading it =)

Biggest disappointment in life

Y'know, when u buy chip packs they look so big and puffy, then u open the pack and find to your dismay that it was only half full when it was packed. That picture above is worse, there were about 10 chips in there. HOW SAD IS THAT?!

And so my quest continues to keep making 1 of each mod XD

Onyx Mod. Some may argue that this is just an MX variation but has a substituted HGG body instead of an RSVP body. They're right. XD nonetheless, it's still sorta another mod that was approved, so I have to own one :D

The OverGround Mod. Sorta like a SEVEN mod lookalike, but it's not heavy nor as long as a SEVEN, which is why I personally find it really hard to spin >.<

I now have 70 mods in total XD usually I have only one of each, but I have a few exceptions, like I have 3 Reeders and 2 coulombs... but I'll have to cut down on them soon XD

Hmm, I figured out lately how much I dislike starting MSN convos XD Idk, if people really wanted to chat to me, then they would start a convo wouldn't they XD

Swine flu death toll reaches... ONE in Brunei! AHHH one! Well, they say the death of one is a tragedy, whereas the death of thousands is a statistic...

The number of cases of swine flu in Brunei has tripled since last week, when someone who carried the virus was walking around the mall. So there are about 127 cases now. Doesn't sound that high compared to over 3000 in Melbourne... But to think someone who carried the virus was there just last week. That's like, woah o.O

Anyway, there has been talk about the virus "claiming its first victim" here. The virus isn't fatal to people with strong immune systems... The child was aged 12 and had liver problems and is suspected to have caught the virus from the hospital.

Well what do we do then? Schools have shut down for a week in a feeble attempt to prevent the spread of Swine flu. But honestly. Honestly. When you heard school was off a week because of swine flu, wooosh, did you rush to the mall to catch transformers 2 before it gets taken off the list? XD

Who knew an attempt to try to quarantine people by cancelling school for a week would backfire so much as to encourage people to go to the mall, where people are more densely crowded XD

Ah well, I need a game to keep my mind off boredom. Been thinking of getting Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth 2... Sadly to get it, I'd have to go to the mall (most likely)

XD) with Robert Hilmen

25th June 2009 - Became someone's galpal

Wow, -sniff- wonderful achievement. -ticks off "become someone's galpal on my to do list"-

26th June 2009 - Survived most of the day without spinning a pen, at night it became unbearable and I sat on my bed from 12am to 1:30am spinning a pen

27th June 2009 - Made a stand not to turn back to my bad habits. I use the rubber band around wrist technique to help me ^^

My Teenstreet (TS) Dodgeball team from a year and a bit ago! How sad to have lost contact with most of them... (not sure who the random girl at the back is though)...

WAHAHAHA I remember it so clearly XD
My friend, Jeremy Cheok... I was sticking with him so much through TS but at the dodgeball activity game we joined, we didn't really have a team (2 people - -)

Apparently the teams had to consist of both boys and girls

Wahahaa good memories (jeremy u still rock, just don't talk to u as much since I don't go to Bethel much anymore)

So anyway, I was placed in a random group to fill up... I'm thankful for that, though I lost contact with most, if not all, of them now, I had a good time at TS... Had people to talk to (Aaron's a cool person XD)

Sad fact: We all promised to meet up next TS to reform the "Untitled" team. We didn't... I didn't even go T.T SO SAD! Oh well XD They're now pretty grown up now, and also me, i changed my hairstyle a little... thank goodness for that eh? XD

Oh well, other from that... I'll just keep spinning ^^

1/3 of my blog visitors are pen spinners linked through the various pictures on my mod index o.o... but anyway, because I can't get a nice pds case, i made this.

2 7up bottles, 1 kitchen sponge, and the cardboard from on top of an egg tray really goes a long way. And for those who are wondering... Yes... I have no life. On the bright side, yay for recycling? XD

OK OK ^^ so anyway in pen spinning i'm trying to obtain "style" rawr.... I've only been 4 months spinning... must acquire some good combos... rawrrrr....

Lol this is what I spin now, not the most fancy mod ever... but it works XD

My green mod ^^ So pretty :D that was like my 3rd attempt on grip cutting designs XD not bad IMO

My skyblue collection XD (heartttt) love this shade of blue... ^^

Anyway... it was really funny today. I went to hua ho with my mum to buy stuff. Then some music came onto the speakers and my mum started singing a little. Back at that moment, i was thinking, oh my goodness T.T

But then this guy was walking past me and he was singing it to himself too... and so was the cashier... like erghhhh XDDD

Other from that... nothing much else happened lately. I now have about 53 mods... XDDDD and the number is STILL rising o.o... haha!
